False allegations in SL Guardian
An article on the web-pages of "Sri Lanka Guardian" contains entirely false allegations. The article is titled "Norway funds for LTTE elements in Tamil Nadu". See below Norwegian ambassador Tore Hattrem's response to the editor in chief of the SL Guardian.
To the Editor in Chief of the SL Guardian,
I would like to draw your attention to an article published on the internet by SL Guardian ( http://www.srilankaguardian.org/2008/10/norway-funds-for-pro-ltte-elements-in.html ).
The allegations in the article titled "Norway funds for LTTE elements in Tamil Nadu" are erroneous and entirely false. As such the allegations are grossly misleading to any reader.
Let me reassure you that the Norwegian government has not, does not, and will not in the future, fund LTTE elements in Tamil Nadu. The "sources" and "facts" of this article are clearly fictional.
To avoid such unfortunate incidents in the future, let me ensure you that the Norwegian Embassy, if contacted, stands ready to assist in providing accurate information on such topics.
Let me end respectfully requesting you to withdraw the article from your web-page.
Sincerely yours,
Tore Hattrem
Norwegian Ambassador to Sri Lanka
