The Norwegian Embassy is cultural partner of the Sri Lanka Design Festival 2011 and the Island Craft Exhibition

Last updated: 17/11/2011 // Sri Lanka Design Festival is the biggest annual celebration of Sri Lankan design, craft, fashion & apparel and is taking place for the third time from the 16th to 20th of November 2011.

Sri Lanka Fashion Design Festival is a life-changing mission that establishes livelihoods for rural, marginalised and war-affected artisan communities in Sri Lanka. By elevating local crafts to reach high-end export markets through design input, this exercises the potential of creativity in the socioeconomic development of Sri Lanka.

The Norwegian Embassy assists in developing the knitting skills of youth in Sri Lanka through the Design For Sustainable Development project.

The products that will be exhibited at this exhibition are from across the island. The Norwegian Embassy is happy to see the products that were produced under the Design for Sustainable Project will be exhibited at the exhibition. The show gives special focus to apparel industry employees a majority of whom are women allowing them to view the results of their labour.

FDFS is a venture conceptualized and driven by the Academy of Design (AOD).
