A medical insurance is compulsory when travelling to the Schengen area on a C visa. According to the Schengen Visa Code as of 6 April 2010 a valid travel insurance now has to be submitted together with the application. Any visa issued now has to be given a 15 days period of grace. The Norwegian Embassy in Colombo also handle applications for Schengen visa to all the other Nordic Countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Sweden). Applicants are advised to use the Application Portal when applying. Applications registered at the Application Portal will be given priority.
